Mersea Island Holiday Park, Fen Lane, Colchester, Essex, CO5 8UA
We booked this last minute for a Monday to Friday stay. Website said it had indoor and outdoor pool and tennis courts plus entertainment. This isn't correct. It only has one indoor pool no tennis courts and only a tiny club house attached to pool which doesn't serve food or have week entertainment only on a Friday and Saturday evening.. So my two teenage children were very very disappointed and slightly bored. The park it's self tho is beautifully clean .nice long beach walks and peace and quiet ,so would go there again as we did have a lovely time. Caravan was lovely and clean and towels etc provided plus a welcome basket. We booked a luxury 6 berth.
We booked as the most reasonably priced for a midweek break . Able to book 2 nights starting anytime which is huge bonus for us as shift workers . The position is perfect . Surrounded by farmland, country park and the beach .
The camp is small and peaceful with helpful ,friendly staff . The caravan was perfect . Spacious , beautifully decorated and has everything you need for self catering . It was cold and rainy when we arrived and we needed the heating on . After ringing reception the maintenance guy had heating on within 10 mins .
For a walking and relaxing break the site is perfect and now we have discovered it we will return . Mersea is a great place to explore . Totally noncommercial and some quaint places to eat and drink on the East side. See you again soon
We have stayed here before in the caravans and always enjoyed our stay. This time we chose to stay in the new Oyster Cottage. This place is a little gem. We had 3 couples staying and it was perfect. The cottage is a great size and beautifully decorated, lovely and clean. The hot tub in the enclosed garden area is a great touch and was a perfect little sun trap in the afternoon. Plenty of room for all 6 people. I can’t praise this place enough. Great customer service as usual. The dog welcome pack and the goodies for us again was a brilliant touch and goes a long way to making it feel special. It Was so good we are all ready looking and hoping to return near Xmas and again next summer!! Well done Mersea Island holiday park for this great little cottage.
The park is a very quiet & peaceful area. Reception/shop and bar staff were lovely. Beach & wooded area was nice. Not too far from the Dog & Pheasant (which served good food)
Only complaints will be the facilities are a bit small & there was not much in regards to adult entertainment, would definitely recommend this as more of a family holiday.
